Over the last few years, major energy companies have initiated operations in Tennessee and other parts of Appalachia in order to extract natural gas reserves contained within the Devonian Shale formation. The Ketchen tracts are located within this geological formation. More companies are beginning to adopt the horizontal drilling method, which has proven to produce three to five times the volume of natural gas as the vertical well technique. Currently, the Company has 27 producing wells (11 of which are horizontal) on the property with capacity for around 450 producing gas wells.
